Seymour Hersh, License to Blab

Or maybe the intelligence community has simply gotten used to a world where secrets don't stay secret for long. Between the media and the internet, things (especially big things like operations involving special forces gathering intelligence across a large nation-state) have a tendency to lose their secrecy quickly. Obviously, one adapts, and when information comes out, you don't confirm or deny; if it's false, it keeps the other side geussing, and if it's true, you adjust your forces accordingly.

No point whining about it.
